Would You Like More Time?

In This Week’s Article: How to change your mindset about time
If you are anything like me you have a ton of things that you want to get done every day.

There are things you want to do for yourself, things you have to do for others, and things that you want to accomplish (all while keeping others happy & healthy… including yourself!)

For me, there are things I want to see, places I want to go and things I want to learn. You know like playing the piano, flying an airplane and surfing… but honestly it is difficult enough making sure I do a good job at the small things like parenting properly, staying connected with my wife, running a good business and taking care of my clients… all while also trying to fit in a healthy lifestyle and routine.

In reality, the big amazing things usually come last on the priority list, and a close second is the healthy routine.

I think we would all be doing a bit more of the things we truly desire if it wasn’t for this one culprit…

TIME
The number one reason (a less harsh word for excuse) people don’t make progress towards what they really want is because they think there isn’t enough TIME…

But let me be clear it isn’t because people don’t HAVE TIME it is because people BELIEVE they don’t have time!!

We have all been hypnotized to believe that we do not have time! Time is running out, Race in here before these are all gone, This is what you “should” have done by now. Hurry, faster, better, NOW. Life is short, do it while you can… (double edged statement in my opinion) I know people who chose to do nothing difficult because life is to short to experience discomfort.

Every time something comes up whether it is a fun activity or a problem we usually think… I don’t have time for this, when the true fact is we do have time! We have time to do whatever the heck we want! So stop telling yourself you don’t have time… and stop telling your friends and your goals and dreams that you don’t have time for them!

Usually it goes like this. “I would love to … (insert dream, exercise, boss, fun, kids, spouse, friend, mom, sibling, etc.) .. but I am too busy” … instead of saying the TRUTH! The Truth is there is something more important to me that I am investing my time into.

When we say those hard truths then we have to actually consciously pay attention to how we are wasting our time. Is Netflix really more important than your dreams. Is sleeping in really more important than your kids?

When you own your time and are accountable to it, you start to make different choices. Ones that actually serve your spirit and your goals, not the ones that keep you on the hamster wheel!

CHECK THIS OUT!!

Let me hit you with some #’s (numbers not hashtags..)

There are 168 hours in a week… let’s say you decide to sleep for 8 hours a night. (7 hours is what is necessary to maintain optimal health) That leaves us 112 awake hours per week.

Do you feel like you spend the majority of your time at work?

Mathematics shows us that is simply not true!

If you work a standard 40 hour work week that leaves you with 72 hours of personal time to do whatever you want with!

Do you think you could invest one of those hours per day into yourself? Into learning or health? Could you dedicate 7 of those hours to making progress towards something that would improve your life?

What I am trying to get at here is that WE ALL HAVE TIME, we just feel like we don’t.

If you want to have more time you don’t need a magician you need to wake up from the spell you have put your own self under.

“If you tell a lie loud enough and long enough, people will begin to believe it.” – Adolf Hitler

Stop believing the lie that you don’t have time and you will start to feel like you have more of it!
